Altogether I thought it was amazing, like honestly amazing. The casting was good the movie was well laid out, there wasn’t any point where I thought that time was just being wasted it all made sense that the scenes were needed to tell the story. Now we all know that the Joker is criminally insane but none of the other movies with him in really told us much about what happened, there was only snippets of his old life. This movie made him make sense. He was just a crazy man due to his childhood that later in life found out some information that made him even more insane...simple, I guess.
Anyway, going back to my opinion of the movie I thought that the way they made it fit with the previous batman movies was good. There were a few links to that that later made it clearer the timeline of the movie. I honestly have to praise Joaquin Phoenix for his portrayal of the Joker. He managed to make the Joker seem human whilst also so inhumane and only a great actor could do that. He also made me in some parts of the movie, like when he finds out he was adopted, honestly made me feel sorry for the Joker which has never happened before. Unlike the Joker in suicide squad it was very obvious that the Joker had had a very hard life and gone through a lot to get him to where he is whilst the suicide squad Joker just seemed inhumane. It was a little bit gorier than I would have thought it would be. I knew it would be because well it’s the Joker and he does a lot of messed up things but in the batman movies a lot of the deaths were off screen or just not as gory. In the Joker we saw him physically kill a lot of the characters and also a lot of the deaths were gruesome, scissors in the neck comes to mid here, and just very in your face. The ending also didn’t seem very important. Nothing really came to light with this scene and it just seemed out of place. It didn’t really end it because it made it like something else was going to happen but then also there didn’t seem to be any teasers as to what could be to come. Overall, I really did enjoy the Joker I would happily sit through it again if I had to. Its detailed and made things make more sense. The Joker has always been a favorite of mine and I'm so glad they gave him his backstory and made him make more sense. I'm very excited to see what's going to happen next.
