Its easy in winter to just stick a pair of jeans and a jumper on and this is what I’ve been doing for the last couple of years. When it gets to winter, I tend to forget my style and just stick to the same three items. This year I decided that I wouldn’t do that, so I went shopping and found my winter style.
Finding your own style can be hard, it’s hard to get away from trends when that’s all that is thrown in your face so when you find yours you should hold onto it, even when it’s the middle of winter. I know I have tried to with mine.

Disclaimer: I would link the above coat from select however they no longer sell it. This is also the reason why i haven't brought a new one. The hole was caused by my own mistake and the coat is actually in good quality other then that.
Over the last couple of days i decided to document the outfits that i wore. Here is a collection of my favorite ones:
At some point or another I am sure you have heard the name ‘Perks of Being a Wallflower’ it became a movie back in 2012 but before that it was a book written by, the same guy who ended up directing the movie, Stephen Chbosky. Now to start I have to say this book broke me, for a while. The whole story of the book was very hard hitting and I wouldn’t suggest it to anyone who likes light-hearted. The whole idea that the book is a collection of letters written by the character ‘Charlie’ made the book feel that much more personal and real. It felt like he was writing to me. I feel that with the type of book that it is, if it was written in first person or third it just would have taken away from the whole mystery of what really happened. Because it was written in letter form a lot of the details were missed out and left room for a lot of interpretation. Normally with a book I hate this. I like to know all of the facts so that I can picture everything that is going on. However, with Perks of Being a Wallflower. I feel that it added to it. The fact that we don’t really know what was happening and that we were only getting a lot of opinions and sometimes information that just wasn’t relevant. It really helped to show where Charlie’s mind was at and showed from a very early that no matter how okay he said he was, Charlie was very mentally sick.
Another thing that makes Charlie seem almost underdeveloped is the way that some of the sentences are structured and the words that he says. A lot of the stuff that he says about how Sam looks and how he felt seemed like they were coming from a very young person which made a lot more sense when it came to the end of the book and you started to find out about Aunt Helen and everything that she had done. When Charlie was saying what others had said, because of the way he writes it made them sound a lot older than Charlie even though it was only really two or three years. The one thing that Chbosky has done brilliantly is given a different outlook, an almost controversial outlook, into mental health, drugs, alcohol and smoking. I watched the movie first and knew that the story was being targeted towards teenagers so I was slightly worried when it came to reading the book that it would be slightly sugar coated but it isn't. A lot of the details, especially the things that Charlie has done is described in great detail. One thing that specifically stuck out to me was the seen in the park where Patrick goes to see men and the older gentleman starts to talk to charlie. Some of the details there in some situations could be seen as controversial especially given the target audience. I am very glad that these things were kept in to show a true side to these things. All of the characters have very real and different problems meaning that at, at least some point during the book nearly everyone will relate to a character, whether it be Sam or Charlie down to Craig. I have to say that the end of the book broke me in ways that no other book has done and it really did change my perspective of everyday things. It made me value things that I never realised I needed to value and I am so glad that I decided to read the book. It’s a book I will never forget. <3 |
